What is your favorite class time?
5:30AM of course. What a great way to start the day. Once I’m done I’m totally energized and the day is just beginning. It’s my favorite part of the day besides getting home to see my kids.
What is your favorite cross fit movement?
The snatch. Although I have so much work to do on these it’s an amazing looking lift when done right and it requires so much coordination, balance and proper mechanics.
What did you think of your first CrossFit experience?
I was a bit freaked out and overwhelmed. I can’t say I liked it very much but I liked the concept of CrossFit so I kept coming back and very quickly got hooked.
What do you feel is your biggest CrossFit accomplishment?
I would say just being able to do it consistently and feeling like I can still get better. I never thought that at my age and with some of the back problems I have had that I could still attain this level of strength and fitness.
What advice would you offer to someone just finishing Elements or thinking about trying CrossFit?
Stick with it and be patient. Listen to your coaches and ask for help if necessary. If you put in the work consistently and stick with the program you’ll get better faster than you think and get in the best shape of your life. I’d also say set some realistic goals and benchmark yourself against them regularly. It will force you to see the progress you are making or where you might need to focus your work on a bit more.
What do you do when not at CrossFit?
When I’m not working I’m either with my 3 daughters and wife or taking care of our many animals – 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 goats, 8 chickens, honeybees, one rabbit and probably something else I forgot. When not doing that I like to spend time in the outdoors hunting with my dogs, shooting or skiing. Music is another passion – if I’m not listening to it I’m trying to play my guitar. Yes, I have way too many hobbies.
