What is your favorite class time?
6:30pm, because I get to spend time with my daughter and share our enjoyment of CrossFit. While I would much rather get it done with at the 5:30am class, these times with my kids will not last forever so I am going to soak it in as long as I can.
What is your favorite cross fit movement?
Definitely not the overhead squat. And can we ban the couch stretch yet? But to answer the question, I enjoy back squats and the shoulder presses and can’t wait to flip tires again.
What did you think of your first CrossFit experience?
“What is this devil trying to do to me with all these f’ng lunges” was pretty much my only memory of the free intro class. If it wasn’t for Natalie wanting to go, I might not have come back.
But elements really got me into it as I got to experience the culture and the group dynamic of DHCF. I’m glad I did come back because this place has become one of my favorite places to be.
What advice would you offer to someone just finishing Elements or thinking about trying CrossFit?
Get to know the people. For some the group thing might be new or intimidating. However, I found it is a key aspect of CrossFit and what makes it bearable when you are doing a God-awful amount of lunges or sitting in a couch stretch.
And don’t be intimidated by the workouts and what others are doing. Find your pace and comfort level and just keep moving.
What do you do when not at Cross Fit?
I spend a good deal of time being a driving service to support Ashleigh and her softball addiction. We spend countless hours at softball fields and at Tucker Field watching field hockey. My oldest two sing quite a bit, so we travel to see them perform. I like vacations in Maine, Sooner football, and watching the Houston Astros.
